Search and Recovery K9's

The project I am currently working on is highlighting the training that is necessary to train dogs to work for humans.  These dogs are imperative tools for law enforcement agencies to find missing people and human remains.  Live find dogs can pick up the scent of a missing person up to two weeks after they have gone missing.  The cadaver dogs can locate human remains that are over 100 years old.

This has been a collaboration with the Calloway County Sheriff's department and the Cumberland K9 Search and Recovery organization.  For three days I followed the training of these dogs with another photographer Connie Rohne from Grand Rapids, MI.   We have been working on this project to assist and provide educational information to the public about how these amazing dogs are trained and been used in search and rescue efforts, like 9-11 and Katrina.
